Para aquél entonces se trabajaba además, en la construcción de dispositivos que tuvieran la cualidad de interactuar con los infantes. Siendo así, cómo se llegó a un convenio con la compañía LEGO, en un programa conocido como LEGO/LOGO, lo cual suponía la integración de piezas legos con elementos de programación ejecutables desde un computador. Tal fue el éxito de esto que, algunos años después la comercialización de estos dispositivos había alcanzado casi todo el mundo.
Resulta menester hacer énfasis en la importancia que tiene el orientar la educación hacia un enfoque más innovador. Permitirle a los jóvenes nuevas maneras de explorar las posibilidades que les ofrece la tecnología, y motivarlos a hacer uso de ésta en beneficio del medio ambiente. Con el pasar de los años, la robótica educativa ha evolucionado hasta posicionarse como una de las herramientas de aprendizaje más innovadoras entre los niños y jóvenes. De hecho, cada vez más países se integran a la participación en diversas competencias de robótica, donde los más jóvenes exponen con creatividad las creaciones que emanan de su ingenio.
Aunque en el caso de Colombia, la robótica educativa funge actualmente como solo una propuesta en el contenido curricular, también es cierto que ha tenido grandes participaciones a nivel infantil y juvenil en competencias de talla mundial en el ámbito de la tecnología y la robótica.
De hecho, en el año 2020, varios jóvenes colombianos que participaron en la International Youth Robot Competition, fueron anunciados como los ganadores de la competición, en Senior de Robot Creation. Los participantes contribuyeron con creaciones que procuraban disminuir los efectos del Coronavirus, a lo cual hizo enfoque la competencia.

Otros países de Latinoamérica han tenido lugares privilegiados en competiciones de robótica en otras partes del mundo. México es un ejemplo de ello, en el año 2019 un grupo de estudiantes mexicanos se convirtieron en los ganadores del torneo Torneo Mundial de Robótica Educacional, el cual convocó a jóvenes de al menos 20 países.
Un ejemplo poco difundido, es el caso de dos adolescentes venezolanos quienes participaron en la Competencia Internacional de Robótica 2021, llevada a cabo en Malasia, su proyecto consistía en la construcción de un robot de ayuda para personas de la tercera edad, posicionándo con esto como los ganadores.
¿Es posible manejar la contaminación a través de la robótica?
Aunque no hay demasiada información acerca del vínculo entre los niños y los robots orientados a la preservación del medio ambiente, es posible que si se estrechan los lazos entre estos, surjan nuevas maneras de combatir el daño que la contaminación le ha producido al entorno.
