Con los acuerdos de París encima de la mesa y el paquete de movilidad limpia negociándose en Bruselas, los vehículos eléctricos se han convertido en una de las piezas clave de la movilidad del futuro, por lo menos con la tecnología que hay actualmente a disposición. Responsable del 26% de las emisiones de dióxido de carbono que se liberan en el aire, este sector podría suponer un lastre o una oportunidad a la hora de alcanzar los objetivos marcados para lograr la transición energética.
En eso, España juega con desventaja. A día de hoy, solo el 1% del parque automovilístico del país es sostenible. REE prevé sin embargo que esta cifra se sitúe en 2,4 millones en 2030 y se dispare hasta los 24 millones 2050, cuando estima que prácticamente el 100% de los turismos sean eléctricos gracias al empuje marcado por el avance tecnológico y normativo y el desarrollo de la infraestructura.
Este objetivo se alinea con la estrategia a largo plazo marcada por la UE para garantizar una energía limpia para todos los ciudadanos: para la misma fecha, Bruselas contempla una reducción del 95% en las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero donde las renovables tendrán un papel protagonista. «Hemos querido dar un paso más en nuestra aportación a la descarbonización», ha dicho Sevilla, quien no ha detallado la inversión que hará la empresa en el marco de su alianza con la FEMP.
Actualmente hay 4.800 puntos de recarga para vehículos eléctricos (3.000 de ellos son públicos), lejos de las cifras de otros países de la región como Noruega o Países Bajos. REE estima que este número se incremente hasta los 90.000 en cinco años, alcance los 100.000 en 2028 y se sitúe en los 120.000 en 15 años. Su despliegue tendrá lugar tanto en áreas urbanas (110.000 entre 10 y 15 años) como en grandes corredores (8.000 para la misma fecha).
Sevilla ha insistido en que el sistema está preparado para este despliegue y ha asegurado que «el alarmismo» de quienes mantienen que la integración del coche eléctrico podría provocar un gran apagón responde a «intereses espurios»: «Como todos los debates económicos las opiniones están condicionadas (…), pero en toda transición hay quien gana y quien pierde».
